Following the First Continental Congress in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Second Continental Congress met from 1776 until 1781. The Continental Congress consisted of delegations from the Thirteen Colonies in America, united to support the American Revolution, and establish independence from Great Britain. George Wythe was an elected delegate from Virginia to the Second Continental Congress from August 11, 1775, until January 29, 1777. Wythe participated on assigned committees, answering letters, setting policy, communicating to the Colonies, and writing reports to Congress. Wythe signed the Declaration of Independence in September, 1776.
